This course is for existing and intending Business English teachers who wish to refresh and develop their skills in key areas of teaching English for Business, professional communications skills and intercultural communication. The course is practical, with a focus on providing teachers with a range of new ideas and activities to enrich their Business English teaching classes.
The aim of this course is for teachers & teacher trainers to experience a range of interesting activities linking methodology and learning theories to the Business English classroom today. Sessions will be practical, and will cover teaching the language of Business English as well as training for the business skills required in the workplace. It will also help teachers reflect on their approach to teaching Business English. This course will be taught interactively, with input, workshops, roleplays, case studies and group work. Participants are expected to take an active role in all sessions, maximising their use of English, and experiencing for themselves the activities covered in the sessions. Teachers will be introduced, during the course, to various web-based sites which they can use after the course. During the course, teachers will be asked to reflect upon the course and come up with a Personal Development Plan and select activities which they would like to try out in their own classes. They will be asked to join a dedicated web group site, to exchange ideas and comment on their plan and its implementation. The site will allow networking and contact with the trainers and fellow colleagues, and with participants from other courses. Moreover, participants will be given a post-course 3 month subscription to our e-Learning online site to further develop their language knowledge and skills.
